Day 1: Walk as Children of Light
- Read Ephesians 5:8-11. What change has taken place in the children of God (v8)? How should we strive to live in light of that?
- The “fruit of light” consists in goodness, righteousness, and truth (v9). What, then, does it mean to “walk as children of light” and to “take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them”? Ask God to help you to see if there are areas in your life which are in darkness, and need to be brought into light. Ask for God’s help to walk as children of light.
Day 2: Meditating on God’s Word
- Isaiah 5:20-21 20 says “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.” Can you think of a time when you saw evil portrayed as good, or good portrayed as evil?
- Without God’s Word to guide us, we won’t always know what is good and right (see Proverbs 14:28). Read Psalm 119:1-16. What are some different things this tells us about God’s word and our relationship to it? What is one thing you can do this week in order to meditate on God’s word?
