“In every journey there must be a first step.” – J.C. Ryle
Taking that first step – whether it’s going to church for the first time in a long time, or finding a new church – can be difficult. Here at Redeemer Church we want to help you take that first step, and keep following Jesus with each step after that. No matter where you are in your spiritual walk, you are welcome at Redeemer. We hope that Redeemer will be a place where you can deepen your walk with Jesus, and find a church family to call home.
Please visit us anytime. To help with your visit, we’ve tried to answer some questions below about what to expect. If we’ve missed something, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
When & Where…
Our Worship Service is Sunday morning, 10:30 am, at 240 E. Washington Street in Chambersburg. The service usually lasts about 1 hour.
Parking: Although we don’t have our own parking lot, there is plenty of available parking very close to our building. We have permission to park in the Rec Center parking lot on Sunday mornings, just behind the church building. There is also a large borough parking lot just up the alley across from the font of the building (look for the section with blue signs that indicate public parking on weekends). There are Accessible parking spots on Washington Street directly in front of the building.
What to Wear…
We don’t have a “dress code”. You’ll find a wide variety at Redeemer, and we hope you’ll dress how you feel comfortable. But if you want to blend in, we are on the casual side.
When You Come…
Get a bulletin, grab a cup of coffee/tea if you’d like, and find a seat. If you’re willing, please sign our guest book to help us get to know you. We won’t ask you to identify yourself during the service in any way.
Worship…
Each week is a little different, but in the service you will find elements of worship such as: worship through song, prayers, the reading of scripture, biblical teaching, sacraments, and the professing of our common faith using the ancient creeds of the Church.
Our music incorporates both traditional & contemporary hymns & songs. You’ll hear some combination of guitars, piano, bass, and percussion.
What about Kids…?
There are lots of kids at Redeemer, so we strive to be as child-friendly as possible. Children of all ages are welcome to remain with us during the worship service, or for your convenience we have a nursery (ages 0 – 3) throughout the service offered every week, and Children’s Church (age 3 through 4th grade) during the sermon portion of the service in which children can learn in an environment tailored for them. Children’s Church is offered on the first 3 Sundays of each month. For children remaining in the service, clipboards with sermon worksheets and coloring sheets are available.
And Afterwards…
You’re invited, if you’d like, to stick around for fellowship, coffee, & snacks. We’re not in a rush to leave and would love the chance to get to know you better.
